Bob Boilen does a job you never see. He is the daily navigator of invisible chaos, the hidden conductor of voice, music, and sound in an information symphony... He is the director of NPR's daily news program All Things Considered.
You rarely know how close you are to disaster when you listen to All Things Considered, but it is often adrenalin filled enironment with chaos in the air. If disaster strikes, it is not with a crash, but with silence. That's how you'll know that Bob Boilen is having a bad day. Perhaps there's a metaphor in there.
Bob also produces and hosts his own show called All Songs Considered - a webcast based on the music played in between segments on All Things Considered. Bob picks his favorite tunes and shares information about the artists and the music they make.
